Fallout 3 Mod Recommendation
Project Genesis by Alexander J Velicky
WARNING!!!: If you like to play through a quest and be 100% guided the entire time, and never have to think, this is not the mod for you. This mod requires some thinking, it has a few mild ‘puzzle’ type things, and cannot not be done mindlessly. Play this if you want challanging story centric gameplay, a fantastic story, and some of the best cutscenes in any Fallout 3 mod.
The mod starts when you get a radio message (I know, how original. I didn’t have any DLC when I made that part :P) beckoning you to a mans house. After following some clues around, you find out a scientist named Christopher O’Neil went missing just before the Great War. You following an entailing story and find out what happened to him, and more importatantly, his partner, Gerard Bishop.
Awesome story centric mod. Great cut scene. It even has slow-motion cut scenes. And a ‘cool guys don’t look at explosions’-moment. Do I really need to add more? Highly recommended!

The Institute - a fully voiced quest mod by thefourwings
The story begins with the discovery of a dead body, dressed in an unusual radiation suit, just outside the Chryslus Building. The information you find on the corpse will lead you to one of The Institute’s remote clinics (or IRCs) where you’ll uncover a layered conspiracy and be faced with the decision of what to do about it.
Features
- Over 300 lines of fully voiced, lip synced dialogue.
- A cover-up to be unraveled through exploration, investigation and interrogation.
- Many ways to meet your objectives and multiple endings.
- Conflicting choices to be made and an experience that is unique to your character’s stats, skills, style and choices.
- Custom perks, characters, cells, weapons, armor, clothing, items, clutter, and of course: dialogue.
I quite enjoyed this mod, the only disappointing thing was that I thought it was a bit too short.

Fallout Street Lights by SpeedyB64 and RW2112
This mod adds lights and FX beams (some flickering ones too) to most of the street lights and signs in the DC ruins
new in version 2.0 - The whole wasteland is now lit, along with other upgrades, such as glowmaps for the lights.
This mod makes nights in Fallout freaking beautiful. Well, if you’re close to lights that is. FYI, the screenshots above aren’t edited in any way, just croped.
Fallout 3 Mod Recommendation
This mod aims to make the game more realistic. I always found it annoying that when I killed The owner(s) of a property, I still could not sleep, take stuff and store away my items without some kind of punishment for doing so.
This mod corrects these flaws that are so prevalent in the original game. Now when you kill the owner(s) of a property, you will get full privilege to everything in the house including the beds, the items and storage without any negative effects (beside a dose of bad karma of course).
Some NPCs may be essential. If this is the case you will only have to knock them unconscious and they will either leave to sleep and eat somewhere else or they may stick around for a while.
For the karma conscious you can buy selected properties via property managers. Hand over your hard earned caps and you can aquire them. If you do not have enough caps in your inventory the property will not be available to buy until you do. The managers can be found inside of properties.
You can also tax all of the properties, which is perfect if you want a little extra cash at any time. Tax is collected once every three days from when you activated it, and the amount you get varies on how expensive the house is. You can even turn it off at any time if you feel you have enough cash in your pocket, it’s up to you.
Doorbells have now been added to help make your play-through a more joyful one. The bells will only appear outside when you have aquired a property, and with one simple ding-dong press; you can lock and unlock your exterior doors to your hearts content.

Followers Relax - AKA Sandbox Mode by JansonMercenary
This is a very simple mod that changes the default “Wait” AI package from “Guard” to “Sandbox”. So when you instruct your vanilla followers to wait for you, they will move about the area within a 1000 unit radius and interact with the environment — instead of simply standing in one spot. This is an aesthetic mod meant to give your vanilla companions a bit more life.
I for one always felt superbad when telling followers to wait, because they just stood there, doing nothing, just waiting for me to get back (one time I forgot where I left Charon and never came back). So this mod makes the wait option a little bit more realistic and makes your companions feel more human (ghoulish?).
Followers Relax - Relax and Wait Working Separately by jericho
Relax command in addition to the default Wait command. Now you have them both!
As the title suggest, this mod adds the relax option separated from the wait option.

The D.C. Interiors Project by chuckSteel
Have you ever thought about scabbing the DC wastes, even though, the super mutants may horrifically and violently rip your heart out? Have you said to yourself “D*** the torpedoes, I am going Downtown anyway”, only to find once you arrive that 99% of the shops and houses are all boarded up? Have you ever seen a building on the horizon, thinking you’ll head there, just to find nothing of interest, nothing worth investigating? If so, this mod is for you!
This mod is pretty popular, and not without reason. It adds a lot of new stores, apartments, homes etc. And when I say a a lot, I mean it. The list of places added can be found if you follow the link in the title.
